Apple's iPhone 3.0 Software Enables Our Podcast Listeners to Send Audio Feedback

By Louis Trapani - Posted on 21 June 2009

iPhone Voice MemoWith the release of iPhone 3.0 OS/firmware upgrade last week from Apple (free for all iPhone models), it gives listeners of Doctor Who: Podshock, the Sonic Newsdriver, and the Hitchhiker's Guide to British Sci-Fi podcasts yet another way to leave us audio feedback for their favorite shows if you use an iPhone. Included in the upgraded software is the ability to create Voice Memos.

Simply record your feedback for possible inclusion in the show using the new Voice Memo feature. You can record and trim the recording to your liking. Once you are happy with your voice memo, you can send it to us right from the iPhone. Select your voice memo and press the "Share" button to send it via email to the podcast feedback email address (for example, our feedback email address for Doctor Who: Podshock) right from your iPhone.

Voice MemoAlternatively, you can wait until you sync your iPhone with iTunes and it will transfer your recorded voice memo to iTunes. From there you can email it to us via your desktop computer.

While voice memos is not new to the iPhone and this could had been done before, but it had to be accomplished via third party apps. Now it is part of Apple's iPhone OS (version 3.0 or higher), so now anyone with an iPhone, regardless of model can use this feature to send audio feedback to our podcasts.

You can be listening to the podcast and sending us feedack on the same device. Of course with Doctor Who: Podshock you can also use the Podshock Public Call Box phone number as well.

For more information, details and a short movie demonstrating this feature see: Apple - iPhone - Record voice memos and more.

There are other smart phones and PDA devices with similar voice recording features. If you use one of these other devices instead of the iPhone, of course feel free to use them to send your feedback as well.
