Annual Winged Visitor Returns

By Louis Trapani - Posted on 10 July 2011

I almost forgotten about this little "friend" of mine until it showed up again the other day.

This little winged friend visits every summer for the past three years. Okay, I can't be exactly sure if it is the same one or not and I doubt their lifespan would allow for it, but this winged creature (or one just like it) visits at least one day each summer, landing on the same spot on a long wooden railing (of two railings side by side). It stays for several minutes almost like he/she is watching me. It may fly away briefly, sometimes it will land on my shoulder or land on my hand, but it always returns to the same spot of the same railing. Each year I took photos of it. I have blogged about it before and compared photos from each year. It is hard for me to believe it is the same one, I don't think they live that long. Having said that, there is about 50 feet or more of wooden railing, why does it land on the same spot, on the same railing each year? Insert Twilight Zone music here.

About the photograph: I photographed this with the Apple iPhone 4 and post-proccessed it using the Magic Hour app (App Store link) and shared it on the net using Instagram (App Store link).
