You are herenew media
Now in my tenth year of being a podcaster, it is by no means surprising that one of the topics I’m asked about over and over again is how to start podcasting. I always recommend starting off with the minimum essentials and then slowly building up your gear as you go along. In other words, don’t make a huge investment in hardware and software initially. You can always upgrade and enhance your set up as you go along. This way, if you find it is something that isn’t for you or perhaps you simply don’t have the time you thought you would had when you first decided on doing it, you can stop without having invested too much money into it.
Last year we welcomed Blogworld and New Media Expo to New York with its first conference set in the Big Apple. Where does the time go? It's back again and once again it is at the Jacob Javitts Center in Manhattan this time in June (the 5th-7th 2012).
At last year's event, I met several listeners as well as fellow podcasters and new media producers there. If you are going this year, be sure to say hi if you spot me there. Should you attend? Here's a piece I wrote a few years ago, but it still applies today: 5 Reasons to go to Blogworld & New Media Expo.
If you hurry, you can still get the early bird discount on admission (ending tonight). Save an additional 10% NOW on your Early Bird Blog World New York 2012 registration with the code "BWAPVIP10"! Register now to save!
I haven't posted many blog entries or reviews here lately because I had been embedded in the mobile space. What does that mean? While not replacing desktop computing any time soon, the mobile platform (and for me that means iOS) has matured to the point now where I can be productive on it and create and process content on it and post it directly to the net. For example, shooting photography and video right on the iPhone, editing the media on it, and posting it on the net all without ever touching my desktop workstation computer.
Thank you for voting and making Doctor Who: Podshock the winner of BEST PODCAST in the SFX Blog Awards 2011. It was an honour to be nominated. We were in great company with other nominees. They are all winners in our book. We were nominated in the one of the six categories this year for Best Podcast. Other categories included Best Online Fan Community, Best SF News Blog, Best Literary Blog, Best Franchise Specific Site, and Best Celebrity Blog.
We thank everyone that voted, the members of the SFX Forum, SFX team members, SFX Bloggers, and everyone that contributes to our podcast, Doctor Who: Podshock as well as our website podshock.net.
I was very excited to learn that BlogWorld and New Media Expo are doing their first east coast event this May when they announced it a few weeks ago. Previous Blogworld & New Media Expo events took place in Las Vegas, NV. For once I will now be able to attend a expo without having to fly there (I don't mind the actual flying, it is everything else that is part of the commercial airline experience I could do without).
Although the dates are quickly approaching, you can still save 15% off your Thursday, weekend, or full access passes for this year's Blogworld and New Media Expo (2010) using the special link below.
Although written for last year's expo, the reasons are still valid for this year, check out "5 Reasons To Go Blogworld & New Media Expo…".

Three weeks ago Apple unveiled the new Apple TV. It is now housed in a mysterious black box, as opposed to the silver of the previous Apple TV. It's much smaller and without a hard disk spinning inside plus a more efficient processor, it runs much cooler.
A black mysterious box is most fitting for this product because there's still so much about it that we don't know yet.
Recently I have gotten glued to GetGlue. What is Glue or GetGlue? Before I explain, let me tell you how I came to discover and use GetGlue.
If you follow me on Twitter @LouisTrapani or the all so many other social media sites that I maintain a presence on, well, you know that I maintain some sort of presence on these various said services. Some I am engaged with more than others.
Just as Doctor Who: Podshock is celebrating it's 5th year in production, Research In Motion (RIM) has launched its new free Blackberry Podcast service and application. Among the initial offerings of podcasts included is the popular venerable Doctor Who: Podshock. The new service allows Blackberry smart-phones to find, download, and consume podcasts on the mobile device from leading providers. Content can be downloaded via Wi-Fi or over the cellular network and played on the Blackberry player.
We are very pleased to have Doctor Who: Podshock included among other shows part of the Wizzard Media network on the service as part of their launch. We look forward to listeners from the many Blackberry users out there across the world.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Doctor Who: Podshock, we are cutting our sponsorship fee schedule by 50% for the remainder of this year! This is a great deal for advertisers that would like reach a large market that we do with our shows.
Do you have a convention to promote? A store or product? We can get the word out to thousands of people.

After participating in last year's Worldwide Photo Walk (WWPW), I contemplated leading a walk myself this year. Before I knew it, it was July already (the month of the walk). When I checked to see what walks were available locally to me this year and saw that there were none, I immediately scrambled organizing a walk myself. Once I had the details worked out, I proceeded to submit my application to lead the walk prior to the posted deadline only for their website to erroneous tell me that applications were no longer being accepted past their deadline and therefore would not allow me to submit it. There was no recourse either.
